After the next few days had passed, reality started to kick in quite a bit. I was in the middle of a fierce battle divorcing my second wife and I had already gotten engaged for almost 7 weeks to someone after only being separated for 4 months and already had been with other women. The next biggest problem that was facing me was what to do with this Beautiful Engagement Ring and the new Jeep I had just purchased less than 10 days ago. I took matters into my own hand and decided to call the salesman that sold me the Jeep. Unfortunately, once you drive a vehicle off the lot, it drops anywhere from 15- 20% in value no matter if you only put 10 miles on the vehicle. It can never be sold as new again. The Jeep I purchased less than 2 weeks old had become a used vehicle, had only 58 miles on it and the price I was offered was $7,000 less than what I paid. My pride kicked into play, I just needed to get rid of this Jeep as quickly as I bought it, so I sold it back to the dealership and took another $7,000 loss. So in hind sight, I paid $12,000 for a Jeep that I only put 58 miles on since I drove it off the lot. I always remember my Mom telling me as a young man, Son, “Your first loss is your best loss”. So I took the hit and had the salesman drop me home. He apologized and truly felt bad for my situation, but I just didn’t have use for a Jeep.
During all of these Trials and Tribulations, I had a friend named that lived in Houston, TX. Her and I had met on an airplane about 3 years earlier. We became very good friends and communicated at least once a week. She actually came to Charlotte, NC and visited my 2nd wife and me several times and attended our church with her boss that had a home in Charlotte, NC. During all of my situations with divorcing my 2nd wife and getting engaged, I always talked to her and told her just about everything that was going on in my life. She had her own set of issues. Earlier in 2012, she was diagnosed with Stage 3/4 Ovarian Cancer. She had major surgery to have both ovaries removed as well as radiation and chemotherapy. She told me she lost her hair as well as her appetite. One night while we were talking on the phone, I asked her if she had ever been to Saint Petersburg, FL. She said no, but it sounds like a great place. I told her I had a spare bedroom and if she wanted to take a break from all her health issues and come to Florida to relax, she was always welcome. She said she would think about it. I told her I would send her a ticket and she could stay at my home as long as she liked.
During the next few days, I was kind of in a bit of a slump. I just wanted to be loved by someone. At this point in my life, it could have been anyone. I felt so betrayed by my fiancé . My masseuse and I went out a few times after, but we really didn’t have anything in common except the Spa Treatments. One of the maintenance guys at the Madison, knew about my situation and told me he had a great gal that I should meet. She worked for Coldwell Banker. I told him to set things up for me to meet her. In between this time, I received a call from my friend in Houston regarding my offer to come to Saint Petersburg, FL. She decided to come for about a week. So I purchased her a ticket for two weeks later for her to come fly and visit with me in Saint Petersburg. A few days later, I had the opportunity to meet the lady for Coffee at the Starbucks in the Hilton. We had a nice conversation and decided to meet for dinner. She was absolutely stunning lady about 2 years younger than me. She had been married twice before, but had been divorced for over 15 years. She told me she wasn’t really into the dating scene, but the maintenance guy spoke so highly of me, that she thought she would give a dinner date a chance. I decided to go all out on our first date. You might have guessed it, I rented a nice limo to pick her up and took her to Bern’s Steakhouse in Ybor City. We had a fabulous time that evening. I knew I was in a pickle with choices. I had my friend from Houston coming to stay a week with me and now I just met this lady. Before my friend had arrived from Houston, I told her I was in the middle of divorce and just got out of a previous engagement to another woman. I guess my honesty didn’t pay off this time. We saw one another a few more times, but I could tell she was becoming quite distant due to all the women I had been with so quickly. Down deep, how the heck could you blame her. Before you knew it, time passed quickly and I was at the airport picking up my friend in Houston. She decided to bring her dog Mozart with her for the visit. I didn’t mind. I had pets before and loved dogs. During her visit with me for the 10 days, we went out a lot and spent time just talking about life. She was a very easy person to like. We did have a few things in common especially music. Before She left to go back to Houston, I booked a ticket to go visit her in Houston. We were starting to become extremely close. While in Houston, I had the opportunity to meet her 3 daughters and several friends. After a nice 5 days in Houston, I decided to fly back to Saint Petersburg, FL. She had a few more treatments to take as a precaution so her Ovarian Cancer did not return. The one thing I did learn is that she wore a wig due to her hair loss. One night, she decided to show me her real hair, which was short, but cute. She just had a problem with short hair, so this was the reason for the wig.
